~ DO YOU WORSHIP? ~ We have all heard people leaving church saying, “I didn’t get very much out of the service.” Perhaps it was because the worshippers in the pews did not put much into the service. Worship is not an ecclesiastical performance; done by the Pastor or worship team for the enjoyment of the congregation. Rather, it is a living drama in which ministers and congregation are the actors and God is the divine critic. It matters whether or not the Lord got something out of the service. Together, we offer up ourselves to Him. The first great commandment tells us to love God with ALL our “heart, mind, soul and strength.” The heart represents our feelings. The soul represents our spirit. The strength represents our actions. The mind is an element that we have neglected. The mind is the instrument that may be used for communication between individuals and God. To worship, we must worship “in spirit and truth”. The mind moves the spirit, and the spirit moves the mind. The worship service is meant for participation. Worship may then become a real offering up to God with all the “heart, mind, soul and strength.”
Come worship with us this Sunday.
